Prices below are indicative ranges in Saudi riyals, excluding VAT, for brand-new, factory-assembled sets with a Perkins, Cummins or Baudouin engine, a Leroy Somer or Stamford alternator and a Deep Sea controller, delivered in the Kingdom. They are a budgeting tool, not an offer — the exact figure depends on the points in the next section.
Small sets: 20–30 kVA silent canopy, roughly 28,000–45,000 SAR. 50–60 kVA, roughly 45,000–65,000 SAR. 100 kVA, roughly 70,000–100,000 SAR. Mid-range: 150 kVA, 95,000–135,000 SAR; 250 kVA, 130,000–185,000 SAR; 400–450 kVA open type, 140,000–200,000 SAR (a Perkins 438 kVA open set we quoted in 2026 sat inside this band). Large: 500 kVA, 200,000–300,000 SAR; 800–900 kVA canopy, 290,000–400,000 SAR (two 880 kVA Baudouin canopy sets we delivered in Riyadh in 2026 were priced in this band); 1,000 kVA, 380,000–550,000 SAR; 1,250 kVA open, 480,000–620,000 SAR; 1,500–2,500 kVA, 600,000 to 1,300,000 SAR, usually containerized.
What moves the price
Engine brand is the first lever: at the same kVA, Baudouin is usually the most economical, Perkins and Cummins sit higher and carry the widest service networks, and Kubota is the premium choice in the small range. Enclosure is the second: an open set is the baseline, a silent canopy adds roughly 10–20 %, and a containerized plant with acoustic lining, fuel system and cable trays adds more but replaces a generator room.
Then come the options that buyers forget to budget: the automatic transfer switch (ATS), a day tank or bulk fuel system with piping, a synchronising controller for paralleled sets, remote monitoring, a tropical radiator for 50 °C sites, installation and commissioning, and delivery with a crane. A cheap headline price with none of these is not cheaper once the site is running.
What a proper offer must include
Insist on the model and the engine model number, the standby and prime ratings at your frequency (60 Hz in Saudi Arabia), the alternator and controller brands, the enclosure type, the OEM datasheet, the delivery time, the warranty terms and the price in SAR with VAT shown separately. An offer that only says “500 kVA silent generator” with a price is not comparable to anything.
New versus used matters too. A used set can be half the price of a new one, but it comes without manufacturer warranty, with unknown hours and often with a re-badged engine. For any project that needs consultant approval or that will run for years, a new set with OEM documents is the cheaper decision over its life.
